When You Comin Back Red Ryder
By Mark Medoff
April 5-7 and 12-14
A lonely roadside diner in a quiet southwestern town becomes the setting for a tense and gritty drama. While Stephen, the young night attendant, is changing shifts with Angle, the daytime waitress, an affluent couple on a long drive stops in for a quick bite. They are soon joined by Lyle, the local gas station owner. Into this quiet gathering walks Teddy, a drifter with a mean streak and a secret, who begins to bully, then psychologically torture, the isolated characters within. By the author of Children of a Lesser God, the New York Times hailed this Obie Award winner as “a fascinating and commanding play… one of the very best.”
