Examine the region's complex relationship with the United States and gain a comprehensive understanding of its unique identities. Engage with thought-provoking coursework and foster cross-cultural understanding. Consider immersing yourself in Latin American culture via a study abroad program in Costa Rica or elsewhere. Strengthen research and critical thinking skills while developing a global mindset by deepening your knowledge of this diverse and vibrant region.
Degree Requirements
- Three credits at the 200 level or higher in SPAN; native speakers of Spanish and students who took four years of Spanish in high school are encouraged to take a 300-level course. Students may substitute three transfer credits at the 202-level or higher in Portuguese with the permission of the director.
- IDST 267 - Introduction to Latin American Studies
- Select four courses (12 credits) from the following list of electives representing at least three different disciplines.
