Each year, thousands of loyal Captains for Life make a generous and meaningful investment in Christopher Newport. Alumni donors make an incredible impact. These dollars generate scholarships, support championship athletic programs and enhance the experience for thousands of students.
In addition, our alumni participation rate is vital. The percentage of alumni who give back to Christopher Newport is used in a number of ways, such as helping to determine grant awards and national collegiate rankings, among others.
The Pillars of Christopher Newport
Honor someone who was a strong support for you during your time at Christopher Newport. With a gift of any size, or a $5 pledge, you can send a professor, friend, mentor or supporter a special lapel pin and personalized card to recognize them for their contribution to your success.

We honor our alumni donors with two giving societies:

Alumni Anchor Society
The Anchor Society honors our most loyal donors: alumni who have made a gift of any size for three or more consecutive years. Those who achieve this status receive Homecoming gifts, insider information from the university, recognition through our donor honor roll, special birthday wishes from Captain Chris and more! -
Alumni President's Circle
Alumni with an annual gift of $1,000 or higher are part of the alumni President's Circle. This exclusive giving level earns you two complimentary parking decals for use in most campus lots, as well as invitations to select university events.
Young Alumni
Each year we have nearly 2,000 young alumni donors. The gifts given directly impacted the growth of alumni chapters across the country, need-based scholarships, equipment and supplies for athletics teams, Christopher Newport's sustainability efforts and academic programs.
Wright Cup
The Wright Cup, named after Christopher Newport's first graduate, Dr. Lois Wright '62, is an award given to the young alumni class with the most participation in a fiscal year. Created in 2019, the Wright Cup competition encourages our most recent graduates to give back to the university in a meaningful way while engaging in a friendly rivalry. Many have just begun their careers and families, but still find it in their hearts to participate in philanthropic giving.

Your brick paver (4” x 8”) is directly engraved with your inscription and the exclusive option to add the Christopher Newport Sails logo or the Captains head. It will permanently adorn the pathways of the Alumni House and welcome back alumni for years to come.
Great Lawn Brick Paver: $500
Your brick paver (4” x 8”) with a directly engraved brick - personalized with your message - will forever line the walkways of the Great Lawn. These will be the first bricks of our new engraving to adorn the Great Lawn.
