President Performance Review June 4, 2020
The Board of Visitors met for a second meeting virtually on June 4, 2020. The meeting was held as permitted by Va. Code § 2.2-3708.2, Chapter 1283 of the 2020 Acts of the Virginia General Assembly, without a quorum of the Board physically assembled in one location, due to the nature of the ongoing State of Emergency declared by the Governor's Executive Order 51 which made it impracticable and unsafe to convene in person. Rector Robert R. Hatten, presided over the meeting.

Rector Hatten welcomed everyone present and asked Ms. Mueller to do a roll call of the Board members present.
Rector Hatten asked Ms. McKnight to entertain a motion to enter closed session under Freedom of Information Act Section 2.2.3711(a)(1) Personnel-annual performance review of the President. Mr. Jennings provided the motion, seconded by Ms. Morton and the motion passed by unanimous vote of the Board.
The Board returned to open session and Secretary McKnight asked for a roll call certifying that only public matters were discussed that were identified in the motion by which the executive or closed meeting was called. Board members Mr. Bruce Jennings, Ms. Terri McKnight, Ms. Judy Wason, Ms. Maria Herbert, Mr. Gabe Morgan, Dr. Ella Ward, Ms. Carney Smith, Ms. Morton, Mr. Steve Kast, Brad Hunter and Rector Bobby Hatten certified to the above. Rector Hatten said that the Board unanimously agreed that President Trible has done an outstanding job during the past year and has met every goal and even exceeded those goals. He said that he has contributed to the continuing reputation, excellence and strength of Christopher Newport. Rector Hatten said if the President was being graded like our students he would receive an A+ for a job well done for the past year. He thanked President Trible for his service and leadership and said the Board looks forward to continuing to work with him on new goals and expectations for the University -- a University, for all practical purposes, he is the father of.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
