Our students write what the world reads.
As writers and thinkers, English majors explore fundamental questions about the formal beauty of individual works, the status of literature within culture, literary history, major authors, the defining characteristics of genres, the politics of interpretation, and the methods of literary scholarship and research.
Christopher Newport's English curriculum also offers you the opportunity to develop your skills in imaginative and professional writing, including journalism, public relations and grant writing, and multimedia texts.
You can also choose from nine disciplinary and interdisciplinary minors:
- African American studies
