How to Apply
If you have a record of academic excellence and intellectual curiosity, then the Honors Program is for you.
Each year, we select at least 100 admitted freshmen to join the program. Typically, these students have the following qualifications:
- High school GPA of at least 3.75
- SAT score of at least 1310 (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math)
Standardized test scores are optional for PLP (or Honors) admission consideration. Applications are reviewed holistically on an individual basis. If submitted, test scores are considered as an evaluative measure.
However, preference is also given to students with a strong high school curriculum. We always consider the individual context of each student’s school or situation.
To apply:
- Complete the Common Application for admission and select President’s Leadership Program and/or Honors program in the Scholarships section.
- Schedule an admission interview (required for scholarship consideration).
- Come to a President’s Leadership and Honors Visit Day (by invitation only) or an Open House, and learn more about this exciting program.
You can also schedule a meeting with the director to see if the program is right for you. You can meet current students and attend an Honors seminar, or any other classes that may interest you.
Preference is given to applicants who complete the required essays and interview by December 15. Those who meet the priority deadline will be notified via mail on February 1. The final deadline to apply and interview is February 15, with notification on April 1.
Beginning August 1, students who have already applied to the university but did not apply to the scholarship programs can apply via the application in the Learn More section on this webpage. Only students who have already applied for admission to CNU are able to access this application, using credentials for the Applicant Status Portal.
