The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) protects student privacy. The Office of Financial Aid cannot discuss a student’s financial aid account with anyone other than the student. However, a student may sign a FERPA release with our office and provide a copy of the driver’s license for anyone wishing to access their account. Students may request the FERPA release from the Office of Financial Aid.
Please note that being an authorized payer for a student’s tuition bill is insufficient for the Office of Financial Aid to discuss a student’s financial aid account with the authorized payer.
Common questions that the Office of Financial Aid receives but are best answered by the Office of Student Accounts include:
• 529 plans
• Student billing, including questions about tuition and fees
• Payment plans
• BankMobile Disbursements, the University’s method for processing and disbursing refunds
