From The Captain’s Log student newspaper to sport clubs and special interest clubs, Christopher Newport boasts a wealth of student involvement on campus. The Office of Orientation and Student Involvement supports over 200 student-run clubs and organizations and provides resources and event planning consultation for all students.

Starting a New Organization

Any student on campus is welcome to start a new student organization (NSO) by following the steps in the Recognized Student Organization Manual. Specifically, to start a new organization, students must:

  • Compile a roster of at least 10 interested students
  • Identify a faculty/staff member as an advisor (as required)
  • Create a constitution and bylaws for the organization
  • Review Creating a New Organization at CNU and complete the New Org Application
  • Attend a New Org Information Session
  • Attend a New Org Orientation once your application has been approved
