Timeline

  • January 11, 2023: Presidential Search Update
  • Formal background checks and final references are conducted.
  • Finalists meet with the Board of Visitors. Buffkin / Baker will coordinate travel and logistics for candidates.
  • Offer is made to selected candidate.
  • Successful conclusion of search.

  • Search Committee conducts first round of interviews with selected group of semifinalists. Buffkin / Baker will coordinate the logistics for committee members and candidates.
  • Search Committee meets to narrow down list of candidates to a group of two to five finalists to recommend to the Board of Visitors.
  • Board of Visitors to vet and conduct second round of interviews.

  • September 2, 2022: Summer progress updates
  • Consultants meet with the Search Committee to review candidate materials. Search Committee narrows down the list of candidates to a group of semifinalists.
  • Finalize list of questions for first-round interviews.

  • Advertisements placed.
  • Using existing connections, relationships and extensive database, in conjunction with original research, identify appropriate individuals to contact to ensure there is a diverse pool of qualified candidates. We encourage the campus community to submit nominations of prospective candidates.
  • Contact prospective candidates as well as network with those individuals in positions to act as sources of information.
  • Develop a diverse pool of qualified candidates.
  • Consultants screen candidates through in-depth telephone and/or video interviews.
  • Develop candidate review rubric for search committee.
  • Create secure website with candidate materials for the Search Committee to review.
  • Mid-point check-in meeting with the Search Committee.
