The Sexual Assault and Violence Education Committee (S.A.V.E.) at Christopher Newport University is committed to the safety and well-being of the entire community. The committee comprises administrators, faculty and staff, with input from students. We seek to raise awareness of the circumstances of sexual assault on college campuses and strive to provide information and resources as well as connect individuals with support services. The S.A.V.E. Committee provides a proactive response, educating the campus community on the topics of sexual assault and violence.
Sexual misconduct is a serious violation of the standards of the university community and will not be tolerated.
Students who have experienced sexual assault or sexual violence are encouraged to seek appropriate medical attention as soon as possible. Additionally, we encourage students to report incidents of sexual misconduct. The Office of Title IX and Equal Opportunity responds to all reported incidents of sexual misconduct for the University. Students also have the option to report an incident to University Police and file criminal charges.
