Interviews
We want to meet you!
An interview is the best way for us to get to know each other – it enhances your application and will help you decide if Christopher Newport is the right fit for you.
There’s no pressure. It's not a scary Q&A with right or wrong answers. It's a conversation between you and one friendly admission staff member, many of whom are recent graduates themselves. You can share more about yourself and your interests and goals, and you'll learn more about who we are and what we're all about.
You can even schedule an interview before you apply, and registration is available 30 days in advance.
An interview is required for merit scholarship consideration through the President's Leadership Program or Honors Program.
We're here to help, and to make this a rewarding experience. If you have any questions or need assistance scheduling your interview, please call us at (757) 594-8936 or email interviews@cnu.edu.
We strongly encourage all applicants to interview.

An interview is your personalized introduction to Christopher Newport. Of course we'll look closely at your application, grades and any test scores, but it's really important to us to meet you and learn more about who you are since we know numbers don’t tell the whole story.
Interviews are available to rising high school seniors from June 1 through March 1
- Early Decision applicants should interview by November 1

It's a conversation, so it could be anything! You'll learn about opportunities available on campus, as well as some of the expectations we have of our students.
Just yourself and your enthusiasm!
Interviews are a one-on-one conversation. Parents can ask questions after the interview is over.
An interview is a great opportunity to distinguish yourself as an applicant and demonstrate your interest in attending Christopher Newport as a transfer student. The Transfer Center conducts transfer admission interviews both in-person and virtually.
