Welcome to Christopher Newport University! Now that you’re admitted, it’s time to take the next steps to officially join our Captain family. Follow this checklist to secure your spot and prepare for an amazing first year.

This is your go-to hub for completing important tasks before you start classes.

Secure your place in the incoming class by submitting your $500 enrollment deposit and registering for Setting Sail, our summer orientation program.

Deadlines

  • Early Decision: January 31
  • Early Action & Regular Decision: May 1

Key reminders!

  • Deposits are non-refundable and required for all incoming freshmen.
  • Your deposit covers orientation, Welcome Week events, and housing essentials.
  • Pay online through the Admitted Student System to guarantee your admission. After May 1, deposits are accepted only if space allows.
  • Financial Aid - Let us know if you’ve applied or plan to apply. (FAFSA priority deadline: March 1)
  • Academic Profile & Preferences - Set your academic interests and Living & Learning Community preferences.
  • Housing & Meal Plan - Complete your housing contract and choose your meal plan. (Available in March)
  • Register for Admitted Freshman Day – Get a preview of campus life and meet some fellow Captains!
  • Submit Required Documents
    • Final high school transcript → Due July 1
    • Dual enrollment transcripts & AP/IB/Cambridge scores → Send to the Transfer Center (if applicable)
    • Immunization records → Upload to the Immunization Portal by July 1
  • Check Laptop Requirements – Make sure your device meets IT standards.
  • Follow @cnu.2029 on Instagram – Stay in the loop with future classmates!

Final Reminder

Your admission is conditional until all final documents are received. If your academic performance significantly declines or you fail to meet admission requirements, your offer may be withdrawn.
