Insurance and Fees
Payment for all clinic visits is due at the time of service. University Health and Wellness Services does not accept insurance for services provided in the clinic. However, if you need to be referred for off-campus nonemergency medical care, x-rays, or lab work, those vendors will bill you or your insurance company.
Staying healthy is critical to academic success, and we strongly encourage all students to have health insurance. Under the Affordable Care Act, many students are eligible for insurance coverage under a parent’s plan until their 26th birthday. In addition, many insurance companies offer “away from home” options for students attending college.
Please note that if you enroll at Christopher Newport before you turn 18, you must submit a new patient health history form and a patient statement of understanding and financial agreement form, signed by a parent or guardian, in order to receive nonemergency care in the clinic.
