Services Offered
University Health and Wellness supports Christopher Newport’s mission of educating mind, body and soul. We offer a range of services to care for you should the need arise, and to promote overall good health, including:
- Physicals and episodic illness and injury care
- Lab services, e.g., rapid strep and flu tests, blood draws
- Stitch and staple removal
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Allergy shots
Please note that if you enroll at Christopher Newport before you turn 18, you must submit a new patient health history form and a patient statement of understanding and financial agreement form, signed by a parent or guardian, in order to receive nonemergency care in the clinic.
After Hours and Weekend Care
Nurse advice and medical resource services are available 24/7. Simply call (757) 594–2000 and ask to speak to the Riverside Nurse. Riverside Health provides this service to the local community, and uses advanced telephone triage protocols in order to help you access the appropriate medical care.
Disability Support

Prescriptions and Controlled Substances
Students are responsible for keeping and dispensing their own medication(s), including injections. Health and Wellness Services does not store prescription medicines or controlled substances. There are several pharmacies near campus where prescriptions can be transferred.
